The modern approach to slimming does not really concentrate on cutting calories, but on reducing fat intake (9 kcal/gram) and increasing intakes of high-fibre foods. Click on 'Diet' and 'Weight loss' and 'Slimming Diet' for an example of such a diet, which is low-fat, high-fibre and moderately energy reduced. Use the diet together with regular exercise and you will lose that weight. Excessive kcal or energy restriction is counterproductive because it makes the body switch off its weight loss systems in the face of 'starvation'.
