Dear Sonja
Well done for stopping smoking - that is going to do so much for your health. Some people do find that they tend to eat more at this stage, but you can consciously counteract the cravings by eating healthy low-fat snacks which are rich in protective nutrients - fruit juice, fresh fruit, dried fruit, wholewheat crackers, low-fat cottage cheese and yoghurt, fresh vegetables like carrot and celery sticks or baby tomatoes and cucumber or gherkins. Also chew sugar-less chewing gum and drink more water every time you get the urge to eat or smoke. Start doing regular exercise like brisk walking, jogging, swimming, cycling or gym to give you a focus in life and prevent weight gain.
