cellulitis and the treatment thereof
hi there

just need to know if someone was diagnosed with cellulitis and has been on an intravenous drip for three days how long should the infection take to clear up. My mom was diagnosed two weeks ago with cellulitis - was on a three day antibiotic drip however she still has quite a bit of pain in the leg - there is no fever anymore but quite a bit of pain - would you advise that we see doctor again?

Dear Oodie
she should be on antibiotic tablets or capsules still - it can take up to 10 days to heal and may be sore for a week or two. Signs that the infection is clearing is fever disappearing, swelling subsiding, redness getting less.
