Treatment with Cyclivex (anti-viral medication) in adults is advised within 24 to 48 hours of the onset of the rash. Unfortunately, there is no real cure for chickenpox. Cyclivex is effective in patients who develop shingles after being infected with chickenpox.

Chickenpox should be treated with daily cleansing of the skin with soap and water, to prevent secondary infection of the skin. Calomine lotion can be applied to alleviate the severe itching. Please do not scratch the lesions, as this might cause secondary infections.

Chickenpox is a viral infections and can not be treated with antibiotics.
