Please tell me why some people never appear to get over depression, no matter how hard they try.  All the AD's and CBT, and still, too often the black cloud plants itself in and on the mind.  Will there ever be any hope for a person like this?

Yes, there is always hope. SOme depressions seem more resistant to treatment than others, and there are a recognized series of alternatives to try --- but then be sure you are being treated by an experienced psychiarist and never a GP for a more complex situation like this. And CBT if properly used ought to clear up that black cloud of habitual negative thinking
