Diabetic rage and eating disorder now too... :(
hi diet doc! i dont know if i should write to u, the psychiatrist, or the eating disorder expert, but i like u, u have given me advice before- i am the angry diabetic that u wrote about in your " Diabetic Rage"  article in may. my problems are not solved. maybe gotten worse now.. i have been under immense pressure from my husband to lose weight because when we got together i looked like a supermodel and now i just look like a normal girl (size 10).. so i still binge eat all day and have now given up my insulin as i am trying the whole Diabulimia diet that is on the internet nowadays. i know its really dangerous but i dont know what else to do! and now i am so paranoid all the time coz i think i''m going to die! i really fear death and want to live and be healthy but i cant stop eating and i have to lose weight!!! i have to! my husband (or anyone else in the world) is completely unaware of all my problems that swim around in my mind all day. he thinks i have great sugar control, and have been losing weight! i have cornered myself into a horrible web of lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i need to do something before its too late! im going totally crazy, i cant even sleep anymore, my heart rate is so high, i sweat, i shake, my eyes are sore and blurry, i''m really suffering, and i feel so alone in all this. i cant tell anyone! he will not understand at all! and anyone else will think i''m mad to put up with a husband who is so obsessed with my weight and how i look! help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! someone tell me what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear B.E.
Stop right there. You do terrify me and I want to help you, but you do need the help of a clinical psychologist/psychiatrist first before you see a dietitian. PLEASE ASK YOUR GP TO REFER YOU TO A CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST IMMEDIATELY - TODAY PLEASE. I don't know where you live, but if you are in Gauteng then it may help to contact Tara Hospital as they have an Eating Disorder clinic (phone (011) 783-2010. In Cape Town and environs you can contact the Kenilworth Clinic (021) 797-1400 and in KwaZulu Natal there is Riverview Manor (033) 701-1911, or contact them on: . You will either die or harm yourself so badly that you will be damaged for life if you don't get some professional help right now. I want you to pick up the phone and contact your gp or the nearest Eating Disorder Clinic and then I want you to post me another Message to report that you have made an appointment. One of your biggest stumbling blocks is that you cannot go on living this lie because it will kill you. The psychologist or psychiatrist will help you communicate with your husband and if he does not understand that you are prepared to die before you tell him your secret about the diabetes, the insulin, the weight, etc, then you don't need him in your life. Yes "life' because that is what I want you to embrace right now - Your right to life and good health and forget about everyone else and what they think.
I am waiting for your Message that you have made an appointment. When you have seen the psychiatrist or clinical psychologist, I want you to post me another Message to let me know that you have done so. Otherwise I won't be able to sleep either.
I am Waiting
