Diet Regimes
Hi Docter
What is your opinion on diets that follow food combination themes...ie: fit for life...etc
Also, what has the highest fibre content in the two types of bread, Wholewheat or rye.
Regards
John

Dear John
I am not sold on food combination diets because most foods contain some carbs, protein and fat in any case = can't see what the human body is going to do if you split them up into different meals - people initially lose weight on these diets because they tend to reduce their total energy intake, but once they revert to normal eating they gain it all back again. According to the SA Food Tables wholewheat bread has an average dietary fibre content of 6.6g/100g, while rye bread has 5.8g/100g.
