Excersing in late 50's
Hi, my father is in his late 50's and while he does some walking he is not as fit as he should be. He also suffers from a troublesome knee. What excercise plan do you recommend for him to begin building up his fitness again?

I think you should suggest to him to log onto www.health24.co.za and do the free home-based programme, (in the fitness page) "Shape up for Summer". He could choose walking as his cardiovascular option. There are also toning exercises he could do at home.

Just remember, he must get medical clearance before he starts exercising. If his knees hurt whilst walking, he could try some aqua classes, which are an excellent means of getting fit.
