The amount of weight that women can potentially gain at different times of the menstrual cycle can vary a great deal, but increase of up to 3 or even 5 kg are not unknown. This is usually due to water retention caused by fluctuating hormone levels. If this is a problem then it may be a good idea to ask your gynae or gp to prescribed a mild diuretic to use during those problem times. Also try taking a complete vit B complex supplement for a bout 3 months to see if this alleviates the condition.
