Exercise and back injury
Hi, can you suggest a few exercises for me? I am a 34-year-old woman with a ton of belly fat and flabby arms. Due to an accident I couldn''t exercise and four years on I look like I am 7 months pregnant. I have a lower back problem which essentially means I can''t walk very far or bend over or backwards or do difficult exercises. Please, I am so desperate and my GP suggested I lose belly fat to decrease the strain on my back. Thanks!

Hi there,

I suggest two things:

- Pilates orientation class and home core exercises (this will focus on maintaining and improving your core stability and strength which will decrease weakness and discomfort in your back)
- Intermittent cardio exercises (gradual progressions) to focus on weight loss and decrease in body fat percentage.

* 3-4 times per week, 45 minutes a day, low-moderate intensity.
