My cat is about a year old now and she really started to pick up a lot of weight. I feed her mornings and at night and do not over-feed her. I've never had cats so don't know if it's normal for them to pick up so much weight..maybe beacuase it's winter? I don't want to reduce her rations unnessecarily.

Are you feeding her according to the instructions on the food bag? You can use a "Light" diet if she continues to pick up weight.
