I heard that folic acid can improve the chances of pregnancy, how true is this?

Dear Tikky
It is important to take folic acid when one is preparing to fall pregnant however the use of the folic acid does not improve your chances of pregnancy. The reason for taking folic acid is to try and prevent foetal abnormalities once a pregnancy has already occurred.
