folic acid absorption and the yolk sac
Hi, I have done some reading and am confused. If a developing embryo receives all its noursihment in the first few weeks from the yolk sac, which isn''t impacted by the mother''s nourishment, then how does folic acid supplementation even reach the baby and how does it receive all the benefits?

In terms of preventing spina bifida, you are supposed to start taking the folic acid at least 3 months before you even fall pregnant, so it is related to the maternal folic acid levels at the time of conception.
