Genital Type 2 Herpes virus.
Can Herpes Virus type 1 (cold sores) infect the genital area to become Type 11 after oral sex when cold sores on the mouth were present. Is there any antidote against Type 11 and how does it present.
Steven, type 1 can’t change to type 2, but it can infect the genitals. There is treatment available like Famvir® that will suppress it, but at this stage there is no cure. I wrote something on genital herpes a while ago, so if you’re interested in a copy, mail me at netdoc@mweb.co.za. Good luck.
