had possible stomach flu now stool has small amount of blood.
Hi Doc
Well Sunday (while i had to enjoy fathers day) i developed serious stomach cramps followed by diarrhae for most of the day .... this was very watery and later on i started to vomit as well.
everything later on stopped as quick as it started (well next morning) so now 3 days later i had to go to the toilet to pass a stool for the first time since Sunday evening. i could feel that i wanted to go to the toilet but it was difficult to pass it, i strained a little and 2 small pieces came out and then a larger one ...... the last one had small amount of mucus and bright red spots i suspect this is blood you could see that this was and the end of the stool.
Now i have been diagnosed with IBS since 1997 and i have been living with a troublesome intestines for all this time, now could the blood be because of the diarhae (possibly a hemeroid) i think i do have one at the opening as i have felt it before?
i only once before had small spots of blood in my stool about 2 years ago as i was constipated.
your info in this is highly appreciated.

It is possible that you are suffering from gastroenteritis. You have to consult your doctor for an examination, blood tests and a stool analysis. The blood in your stools are most likely due to a small mucosal tare of the opening at the anus, due to the increased pressure/irritation when you passed the difficult stool or due to the piles but other possibilities have to be excluded.
If you are over 50 years of age, it will be a good idea to have a colonoscopy done.
