How do dogs grieve and how to help.
Our beloved Maltese Poodle, Tyger passed away on Friday 16th. He would be turning 16 on March 06. He was the "big brother" to me boerboel, George (4). George has known him since he arrived at our home at 7 wks of age. He does not seem to understand what has happened to his friend or where he is.
Is there any "correct' or most appropriate way to handle this situation to make things easier on George?

Hi Wendi

Sorry to hear about your loss. The best is to allow George to grieve. It should take 1-2 weeks for him to be a bit unsure. He will start becoming more himself as time passes. The worst thing you can do is to try and compensate and "baby" George. Give him time and be there for him. He will soon feel better.
