Is my husband cheating?

I'm 27 and recently married. I always believed that I had a mariage that would withstand all that could possibly be thrown our way. We have had a tough time during our courtship with lots of his friends spreading rumours about me with break us up but we got through that. We even got through interference from my former boyfriend. My question now is, could he be cheating? Lately, he has been accusing me of having affairs at work and keeping secrets. He is constantly chcking up on me and if I'm not at my desk, he freaks out, even if I just went to the toilet. He says it's an excuse to see whomever I'm "seeing". A few weeks ago we had friends over and his ex-girlfriend is apart of this group. When we first started dating he introduced me to her and said that they were strictly just friends. So, I tried to be open-minded but lately she has been showing signs of having ulterior motives. She has since divorced her husband while dating my husband many years before I entered his life and I now feel that she wants the life I'm living with him. I have discussed my feelings with my hubby but he says that I'm being silly because they wil never be more then just friends. How do I trust her when she's around and can I trust that when she contacts him that he'll tel me about it? I don't want to lose my husband to a bitter woman who will cast him aside as soon as something better, if that's possible, comes her way. She called me a few days ago to discuss why I have been so unfriendly towards her lately and I told her exactly how I feel. She immediately assured me that my fears will never come to the fore as she would not want to break a happy home, especially because she knows how strongly my hubby feels about me. But not even this has helped me. I still feel as if they are stringing me along, getting me to believe what they want to me believe. Why is it so hard for my hubby to cut ties with this woman for the sake of our marriage?
