Mims, Lyme disease or Lyme Borreliosis is named after the town Old Lyme in Connecticut. It is an acute recurrent inflammatory infection transmitted by a tickborne spirochete, Borrelia burgdorfi. An early sign of the infection is a red spot at the site of the tick bite. 3-30 days later a red rash may develop and people may have forgotten that a tick bit them. Fever, chills, headache followed by pain in the knees and other joints usually follows. Symptoms appear in recurrent episodes, lasting about a week, at intervals of one to several weeks declining over 2-3 years. Treatment is usually with tetracycline or doxycycline.
Benfotiamine, is a vitamin B1 substance used to treat vitamin B1 deficiency. It is safe with very little side effects. Good luck.
