more info on high prolactin
Hi i need more info on high prolactin and its effect on the menstruation? will i be able to concieve or not?
Dear Monzas
The effect on fertility is related to the extent or the absolute level of the Prolactin and also whether it is a primary or secondary cause. Raised Prolactin may often be associated with thyroid abnormalities and as well as in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome and in these cases it is secondary finding and treating the cause often corrects the Prolactin problem and the fertility problem at the same time. However in the primary situation there is often a small or large tumour of the pituitary gland and in certain cases this may need to be surgically corrected before the fertility problem may be addressed.
