Hi Jane,

I would recommend Pranayama over postures in this instance. The Pranic body (energy body) is closely related to the physical nervous system. I would especially recommend Nadi Shodan breath (alternate nostril breath) three times per day. Ujjayi (psychic breath) is also a good one. Postures would depend largely on what the patient is capable of. Salute to the sun would be excellent in overall toning of the body. Balancing postures will help as well. The most important aspect of the postures would be to include both breath and body awareness as this would improve their regenerative effects. I would also recommend Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation practice) and include healing visualizations in the practice. I would also recommend Ajapa Japa meditation as it moves energy up and down the spine. Shaktakarmas (cleansing practices) would help. Also bandas (locks) and mudras would also play an important role and can be integrated into the pranayama and meditation.
