Hello michelle,
Possibilities are either interdigital neuritis (compression/iritation of nerve between metatarsal bones) sometimes caused by wearing narrow shoes combined with long periods of standing.

or metatarsophalangeal joint synovitis (strain of joint between foot and toe) caused by restriction of foot and ankle and too much movement of toe joint. Aggravated by wearing soft soled shoes. Remedy wear hard soled shoes.
