Dear Kate

Once stopping oral contraceptives in healthy individuals, ovulation should return within the first menstrual cycle. The egg that is produced should not be in anyway altered or affected by oral contraceptives and therefore there is no increased risk of abnormalities. Furthermore, there is no waiting period and no safety precautions need to be taken after stopping the oral contractive when trying to conceive.
