Old Top of Foot Injury

Years ago a bus rode over my right foot. Since then when swimming and kicking as in crawl, foot hurt. Have not played tennis in 10 years. Now slipped goind down stairs, not badly however, think two metatarsuls might be fractured. X Rays show old injury as a white blur. Dr thinks its arthritis in spite of no pain there, only at the point of new injury with slight soft tissue bulge.

? Who is the top foot specialist/surgeon in Johannesburg?

Apologies for a delayed reply. Hopefully you have only bruised the soft tissue, in which case taking anti-inflammatory medication and applying ice to the injury should promote initial healing and recovery. It may be a good idea to have your foot looked at by an orthopaedic surgeon. It is possible that the old injury may have masked the new one. It is also possible to have arthritis without pain. As the bony deposits (arthritic growth) progresses and restricts movement pain will occur. I'm afraid I cannot advise you on who the best foot specialist in Johannesburg is. Doctors who are linked to tertiary institutions (universities or medical schools or medical research centres) have access to the latest research and technology in medicine.
