Please inform me, my mom had a pacemaker fitted 5 months ago as her heart was hardly beating, but she has deteriorated in all other areas of health since then, her kidneys are only functioning at 10 percent, she no longer knows us, her legs are swollen with water, has serious bouts of vomiting and no longer wants any food, now she can no longer turn over or stand up, will the pacemaker keep her alive and what will happen? I really need some advise , thank you

Ingrid, unfortunately the pacemaker won’t keep her alive. It can help keep her heart beat a little longer, but sounds like she is severely ill at the moment. If the heart stops, the pacemaker will not be able to get it started again. Good luck.
