Pap Smear After Hysterectomy
I recently had a hysterectomy and my doctor has now told me that I do not have to have an annual pap smear. I can have one every few years. Is this true and why?

A pap smear samples the cervix. You have presumably had your cervix removed with your uterus and therefore screening for cancer of the cervix is no longer necessary. If your hysterectomy was for cancer, you would still need to have regular check-upsd.
