PREGNANT BABY RETAINING WATER
My wife is 23 wks pregnant and the baby is surrounded in water. Baby was aenimic and blood transfusion was done. After a week, the swelling has not subsided. The gynae does not know what the cause is as all the tests done came back normal such as chromosone and infections. She suspects that the baby's glands are not functioning and will draw water from his stomach to see if it is the case. She wants to deliver the baby at about 28 wks and drain him after birth. What could be the problem? The baby's vitals are all good and he is moving - he's heart is also in good shape. Please help
The usual problems are an infection called parvo virus or rhesus disease. If these have been excluded it will be a lot more complicated to find the cause and your doctor will be the best person to discuss with what next to do.
