how much protein would i need as a teenager if i were exercising regularly and were looking for the best performance possible without affecting my long term health

According to most handbooks on diets for sportsmen, athletes who are not in the elite class or doing serious body building do not require more than 1g of protein per kg of body weight per day. Click on 'Fitness' at the top of this page and then on 'Nutrition' and read the articles on 'Diets for Sportsmen and women', esp the ones on carbohydrates, carbo-loading and proteins.
