In a recent study in 2005, Reuteri was shown to reduce the symptoms associated with taking antibiotics in children. The investigators showed decreased abdominal distention by 31%, diarrhoea by 37% and lack of appetite by 33% in the Reuteri group compared to the placebo group.

Reuteri has not been shown to improve constipation. Constipation will probably improve from increasing the fibre in the diet and Reuteri may provide benefit with respect to gastric symptoms.
