scared to play rugby after injury
How can I get a 12 year old lad to play rugby again after dislocating his wrist? He wants to play but is sick with the thought of doing it again.

Rehabilitation after injury

Dear Paddy

Perhaps this young lad will feel more confident about playing again if he gets proper rehabilitation for his wrist and strengthens his wrist, so that it does not get injured again. Having had an injury and possibly being in a cast or brace for a few weeks, his wrist and forearm muscles will have weakened and he is at increased risk now for re-injury. It may be a good idea to put off the rugby until the following season and do another sport in the meantime.

Send him to a biokineticist, who will understand his injury and help him to get strong for rugby again, so that he is more confident and less apprehensive on the field and thus less likely to injure himself again.
