Self tan tablets
Can you tell me if the tablets which claim to give you a tan just as the real sun are really working and if there are side effects?
Thank you Monika

Hallo Monika
You get 2 kinds:
Carotenoid tablets
They contain a colourant that gets deposited in your fat cells, causing a brownish yellow colour - if you take too much it makes your hands go yellow inside! As it contains vit A or D deratives, it can be harmful in high doses and damage the retina of your eyes.
Tyrosine tablets:
Stimulate melanin but may not protect you against sunburn. Will also only work if you have a lot of melaninproducing cells, so redheads or light skinned people may not see a major difference. Still controversial if it really works.
