please help. the skin just above my cuticles or nails is peeling, what could this be a medical sign of?

This could be due to chemical irritation ( from nail products or other chemicals that you work with), fungal infections, excessive dryness of the hands or picking at the skin. Try using skin emollients or barrier creams, avoid all nailpolishes or polish removers, use plastic gloves when working in water
