soya allergy
How do you treat a soya allergy when there are severe reactions like irregular heartbeat, high bloodpressure and coughing. what can you do to stop the reaction.
Dear Marlene
Please discuss these severe reactions to soya with your gp who will have to advise if you need to keep antihistamines or even an adrenaline injection available in case you develop anaphylactic shock. I would surmise that you at least need to carry antihistamines with you at all times. This type of reaction to soya is indeed problematic because most processed foods contain some or other kind of soya product. Basically you can only eat fruit and vegetables, home-baked bread (most commercial breads and biscuits, etc, contain 'textured vegetable protein' that is usually soya), plain oats or maize meal porridge which you cook yourself, meat, fish and eggs (which you also prepare and cook yourself) and butter or plant oils (avoiding soya oil of course and checking if the margarine you intend using, contains soya).
Best regards
