Test: Draw blood or pin prick? Which is more accurate??
Hi, I would like to know if the pinprick on your finger and immediate results are as accurate as a full-on blood drawing episode? They always hurt me when drawing blood as you cannot find my veins easily. Please advise
Hi Anon!
The Rapid "pin prick" tests are extremely acurate in that they are very sensitive. In fact, they are so sensitive that they do sometimes deliver false positives. This is when a test where blood is drawn (elisa or PRC) comes in, to confirm that the patient is really positive.
Stay well!
