Hi Jab

No,it's not essential and if you do a workout lasting anything up to 90 minutes, you can get away with not drinking. You won't die of dehydration, which is what people will falsely try to warn you about!

The key is to have water on hand so that you can drink when you're thirsty. Nothing is quite so bad as becoming thirsty and not having water available to quench it. For that reason, it pays to have access to water, but drink only when you are thirsty and don't try to run your drinking to a formula.

Bottom line - the body is clever enough to tell you that you need to drink, and so if you simply obey your thirst, you'll be 100% safe and perfectly optimal.

Good luck
