Water retained or not
i would like to know does coffee retain water or does it act as a duiretic? which of the two. Does this apply to decaf coffee as well and does this then mean that if your body retains a lot of water drinking coffee would help somewhat to rid some water? or is there a negative effect for someone with water retention drinking coffee?/

Dear Mims
Coffee which contains caffeine is a diuretic and it should help a bit with water retention. Decaff coffee will not. If you suffer from bad water retention it is always a good idea to have a medical checkup to try and determine what is causing this problem and to eliminate serious problems like kidney disease. You can also ask the dr to prescribe a mild diuretic for this condition.
