Hi doc

I am a 25 year old guy that have 2 questions namely:
1.Just a quick question what role does smoking cigarretes play in weighloss? are your chance of lossing weigh decreased if you are a smoker?
2. is it advisable to eat before going to the gym or not? eat fruits or cereal

Your chances of weightloss are not decreased if you are a smoker, but it is always a good idea to quit for your overall health no matter if you want to lose weight or not. Eating before gym depends on when you exercise. If you go early in the morning it is a good idea to have a light carbohydrate-rich breakfast to fuel your exercise. Also consider using an energy drink while exercising. If you exercise in the afternoon and early evening and experience a dip in energy at that time of day you can eat an energy bar or use an energy drink again during exercise and then have a carb-rich meal when you have recovered from the exercise. The basic principle is that you need to have enough energy to fuel your physical activity, so you need to eat something before exercise in the morning because you will not have eaten for 12 or more hours and your blood sugar will be low and then same applies in the afternoon. But having a large meal may cause nausea when you exercise, which is why you should stick to a light meal like cereal, low-fat milk and fruit in the morning and a carb-rich snack in the afternoon.
