Wheatgerm vs. Brown rice
Hi there,

Could you please give me an explanation as to which carb is better eaten cold in a 'salad' for lunch if I am trying to lose weight?
1.) Wheat (Cooked whole - wheatgerm?)
2.) Cous cous
3.) Brown rice
4.) 'Pasta-rice'
Can you also tell me why and what calories/ fat (g) are involved?

Thanks!!

Dear Nel
The higher the dietary fibre content, the lower the energy content will be, thus I would use cooked crushed wheat and brown rice. Crushed cooked wheat contains 83 kcal and 0.2g fat per 100g. The cooked brown rice contains about 110 kcal and 0.9 g fat per 100g.
