Are condom openings bigger than the HIV virus???
If a condom is not 100% safe for HIV transmission then why are we encouraged to use it? I think we need to be told the whole truth. I have heard that condom openings are much bigger than the dimensions of an HIV virus. Any comments?

Hi SZN,
Nothing can be guaranteed as 100%, and nothing else is available to offer any protection, but it is clear that practising methodical and consistent safer sex- by using condoms- significantly reduces the possibility of transmission of the virus. This is why it is referred to as 'safer sex' rather than 'safe sex'.
The only forms of safe sex are abstinence and mutually monogamous sex with partners who are not infected.
