Yoga & Pregnancy
Hi Expert

1. For how long can one continue doing regular comprehensive yoga when pregnant?

2. What is the difference between regular yoga, and yoga for pregnancy?

I would like to know whether it would be worth buying a yoga dvd for pregnancy, or to simply just modify my current routine.

Thank You

Dear jskr, many women find that yoga assists pregnancy for both the carrying period as well as the delivery so this is definitely a good and safe move - I know of women that practise right up to delivery. I generally don't recommend starting a rigorous practice when you are pregnant and the best option would be to seek out a specific prenatal class in your area as these classes are likely to be slower and easier to move into - if you are already practising though, you would just modify your existing practise. It is also important to say that there is much diverging and contradictory advice and cautions about pregnancy within the different styles of yoga so always defer to your own body - after all, part of yoga is learning to listen to it... A Dvd is a good option if you are not doing yoga and can't find specific prenatal classes in your area.
All the best.
