Albei kytspiere geskeur

rehabilitation after injury

Dear Sunshine

Chronic calf strain may occur as an overuse injury or following inadequate rehabilitation of an acute injury. Inadequate rehabilitation results in disorganized, weak scar tissue that is susceptible to further injury.

Treatment usually involves (among other things) proper stretching to restore normal muscle length, concentric muscle strengthening (muscle’s ability to exert force while shortening), eccentric muscle strengthening (muscle’s ability to exert force while lengthening) and finally sport specific drills. If the any of these aren’t addressed properly, recurrence of the injury is likely to occur.

I advise you to contact your nearest biokineticist and schedule an appointment for a thorough assessment. During your assessment the biokineticist will determine your problem areas & weaknesses, and most probably prescribe an exercise program to address the assessment findings.

It might also be helpful to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion from a sports physician.
