calcium levels
My mother (age 75) has been admitted to hospital with pneumonia and apparently her calcium levels is very high. What could the reason for the high calcium be?
There are several causes. The serum calcium is usually repeated to confirm that it is high. If it is high the following should be ruled out: Medication, sarcoidosis, malignancy and overactivity of the parathyroid glands, renal diseases and overactivity of the thyroid gland.
