foot injury walking
I am suffering from a sore foot (L) ) - sole (ball) between 2nd & 3rd toes from left. Sometimes also feels as if tendon is not sliding properly. Used to walk 15km per day at least 5 days per week. Now can't walk distance anymore because of pain. What causes it, how do you rehabilitate it. Don't want to go for an op.

Dear Nicol

I’m afraid I cannot tell you what it is – you could have one of many diagnoses. You should see a podiatrist or doctor, who can give you a diagnosis and then tell you what your options are. Ask if there are exercises you can do to help speed the healing process (a podiatrist may find some biomechanical error in your pattern of walking for which he may prescribe exercises or inserts for your shoes). Surgery is usually reserved for conditions that are severe and cannot be fixed conservatively. Remember, if you are not happy with a doctor’s prognosis, you can always get a second opinion.
The information provided does not constitute a diagnosis of your condition. You should consult a medical practitioner or other appropriate health care professional for a physical examination, diagnosis and formal advice.
