I am blown away by this posting, how flippant you are in discussing a SERIOUS medical condition as if you were ordering a beer in a bar. Even worse if this is your foot.

Whomever the diabetic is this is serious as it is a clear indication that there is advanced vascular disease and the consequences are life changing if not life threatening.

This internet site must never be used as a doctor on call it is an adjunct to ask questions that will allow you to better understand the ailmant that afflicts you or someone close to you.

Having got that off my chest to answer your question the foot might not become infected even if the toe has fallen off, BUT this might be the tip of the iceberg and the vascular disease might be so rampant that the foot and leg is next, I cannot say.
