A full blood count looks at the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. There can be abnormalities of these cells in lots of diseases, so therefore a FBC is not a screening test for general health, but should be interpreted together with clinical findings. It can pick up cancer of the blood (leukemia), but not other cancers.
