Hallo Debs

Because he was born so early (and being a boy) your baby might have got tired and then they use a lot of energy to keep the lungs open to breath effectively. Putting them on CPAP supports the breathing effort and then he can use his energy to grow instead of for breathing. It really depends on the baby how long this might take. We usually turn the pressure provided down (weaning) and then they go onto nasal canula which is oxygen provided through the nose with a little tube.

CPAP is a very good supportive method to help your baby and it is temporary, so you can rather see it as a supportive measure to assist your baby in growing better.

Good luck
