Can hot water from a geyser kill HIV even if it is mixed with a bleach like JIK or an antiseptic like Dettol?

Hi Dave!

Yes. The virus will most certainly die if exposed to hot water mixed with a disinfectant. This does not mean that exposing a wound which could have been exposed to the virus to this treatment would necessarily prevent infection. For any surfaces or utencils that had contact with fluids containing HIV though, that should get rid of the virus.

The virus is quite fragile and will die after a minut or so when exposed to air.
