Hi Lulu

The costs depend upon whether it is someone you select or whether you simply go to a sperm bank, and also the quality of your ovaries. Sometimes they can simply insert the sperm directly into you, in other cases they need to extract your ovum and fertilise it outside of the womb, and then insert it back inside you. The procedure can be complicated if your partner has a low or almost non-existant sperm count, as sperm then has to be surgically removed which increases the costs. I am not sure of the technical name but it is artificial insemination, and if your ovum is fertilised outside of the body it is known as a test tube baby.

I would talk to your gynaecologist first to discuss the options and also the likely extent of the procedures which will then enable you to decide which will best suit your needs. A number of hospitals specialise in these procedures and it may be worthwhile contacting them directly.
