I recently started training again and after my first weight workout, two days have passed and I still feel stiff and sore. I have read that this is a sign of muscle gain.Is this the case and are there any suplements or dietry requirements to reduce the time that you take to recover?

There is a difference between pain associated with training and the pain that accompanies "overdoing it." The pain should last, two, maybe three days in the beginning. It should get less with time. If the pain is such that you can almost not walk or even move then you may have overdone it.

In that case I'd suggest that go lighter with the weights.
