Diabetics and protein
Is it healthy for diabetics to follow a high protein diet when building muscle?
E.g. lots of egg whites etc. with as part of every meal.

As a diabetic you'd want to watch out for excessive refined sugars and too much fat. If, as you say, you are going to be using alot of egg whites that are fat/chol. free then you should be fine.

What I would like to advise you to do is to contact a dietician who specialises in diabetics. You can call the Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology in Houghton, Jhb on (011) 712 6000 and see if they can perhaps help you.

Keep well,
