Supplement confusion
Hi Conrad.
I want to buy a protein supplement as well as a Carbs/Protein meal replacement. But when I go to a store it seems as if the person there is working on commision for a certain product. Because at one store the assistent will insist on product A and at the next store product B is the best, and at the next store product C is the best, and so on. And the labels on the products all claim the same thing. Does it make a difference which make of product I get? Or if it says it has so much protein etc. is that so? I am not sure if you can recommend a specific product on the website. If you can please can you tell me? ie. USN or EAS etc. If you cannot, maybe just advice me as to what to look for on the label. Thanking you in advance, Mike.

Mike,

While Nutrition Nut seems to know what he is talking about I am not so familiar with some of the issues he raises.

Most people have their own personal choice or preference usually as a result of what they have used previously and the results that they have obtained with the products that they have used. What you need to do is to go with a supplements company that has a solid reputation and that bases their claims on solid research and investigation.

Companies that spring to mind when evaluated according to the above criteria are EAS, Nutrimax, Muscle Science and Perc.

Ultimately the decision on what supplement you choose will revolve around finances. Make sure that you get the best product for your buck. Unfortunately you may have to spend slightly more for a better product but trust me in many of those cases it is money well spent. I have used cheaper supplements that have just about caused a divorce or murder in my household as a result of some of the not so nice side-effects from using them.
